The Steps to Adoption and Foster Care
Step 1 | Attend a parent orientation.
- All parents need to attend the parent orientation and submit signed commitment forms before you can attend Project 1.27 training. (Orientation counts as your first 2 hours of required training.)
- Orientation occurs several times a year in various locations around the state.

Step 2 | Attend Trainings
- FACT training (Foster/Adoptive Core Training) – 12 hours
- Project 1.27 Core Training – 12 Hours
- CPR/First Aid – 8 Hours
- Support Team Training – 4 Hours
Step 3 | Complete Paperwork Requirements
You will receive all the needed papers when you commit to the Project 1.27 program. Completed forms are submitted to your P1.27 case worker for review.
