Training for Families

Training attendance is limited to enrolled parents who have attended a Project 1.27 orientation, submitted committment forms and paid the program fee of $50.

For couples, both parents must attend the entire training.

Please arrange your schedule to arrive by 5:00pm.

FOSTER ADOPT CORE TRAINING

Foster Adopt Core Training (FACT) meets the core competencies outlined in the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Welfare Practice Handbook. FACT is taught by experienced instructors in a church setting with a Christian perspective.

PROJECT 1.27 CORE TRAINING

Project 1.27 Core (PCORE) is a unique Biblically based training that complements the competencies outlined in the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Welfare Practice Handbook. Taught by pastors, professionals and Project 1.27 adoptive parent alumni in a church setting with a Christian perspective.

SUPPORT TEAM TRAINING

CPR and FIRST AID

All foster and adoptive parents must be certified in CPR and First Aid. Project 1.27 provides this training at a reduced cost; however, sessions are limited. Families are welcome to seek alternative sources of training. Please note that training must include skills for infants and children.

ELECTIVES

Project 1.27 may offer additional classes, as possible:

“Adoption Transitions”-Success in your adoption will come partly by asking the right questions, having the right expectations and having the right information.
“Discipline: An Attachment Perspective”-This class looks at disciplining children who have been traumatized and/or have attachment issues before being placed in your home.
“Why Does My Child Behave This Way?-This class will provide an overview of these sensory processing systems and their impact on functioning. We will discuss ways to address underlying sensory issues to help improve behavioral self-regulation.
“Promoting Placement Stability”-Using home visits to prevent foster care and adoption disruptions.
“Helping Children Cope”-How foster and adoptive parents can reduce trauma during placement moves.
Fingerprinting: performed by volunteers during training weekends, as available
