| Steven Curtis Chapman and Project 1.27
Steven Curtis Chapman's Christmas tour is a little different this time. At night he ministers with his music, but during the day he has been meeting with pastors and adoption leaders across the nation to share God's heart for orphans as well as his own heart for orphan care and adoption ministry. He is calling it "Responding to the Call" and everywhere he goes he is asking prominent adoption ministries in the area to host the event. Project 1.27 was one of those ministries asked to host this meeting in Denver and we gladly took on the challenge.

The meeting took place the afternoon of Monday, December 5th, 2005. Despite having some problems finding the location, Mr Chapman arrived in time to address the large crowd. The crowd was the largest they had seen for their entire tour; over 100 people attended which included 25 churches, 20+ pastors, Christian school principals, the Lt. Governors office and several Colorado state and county representatives.

Mr. Chapman spoke primarily of his and his wife's own experiences with adoption (read more here) and their heart for orphans and adoption ministry. As a result of their experiences they have created Shaohannahs Hope, a ministry that's mission is to care for orphans by engaging the church and helping Christian families reduce the financial barrier to adoption. www.shaohannahshope.org |
Chris Padbury, the Executive Director of Project 1.27. had a chance to address the group and shared some information on adoption:
There are millions of children in our world without a mom or a dad. Adoption
is not just sponsoring a child, feeding a child, or writing
him a letter. It is accepting them into our hearts, homes,
and lives as a member of our family.
3 primary ways of adopting in Colorado:
- Agency—International:
Chinese Children Adoption International
Largest Chinese Adoption Agency in the nation
Placed over 6000 children.
- Agency-Domestic: Christian
Family Services There are only 650 orphans here in out state
of Colorado
- State and County:
Represented by our own Project 1.27

If one pastor calls it can make a world of difference.
In the whole life of an average church it is considered adoption
successful if 20 children are adopted.
Last year one pastor in Colorado took a risk and asked
his church to step into adoption through 3 sermons. There are amazing results! |
